Who is the service is for?

The service is for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in Islington.

What does the service do?

The MS Specialist Nurse works closely with a wide range of health colleagues from Islington Community Rehabilitation Team (ICRT), the REACH team, neurology, medical, social work, district, practice and community nursing team to optimise the management of MS in the community.

The aim of the service is to:

  • empower clients with MS living in Islington providing information, advice and support to promote self management at all stages of the condition.
  • support clients with MS to lead fulfilling independent lives and to maintain health needs in the community.
  • provide a care coordination role in the community, bridging the gaps between health and social care.
  • develop community based services away from the clinical setting.
  • improve provision of equitable and quality services for clients living with MS in Islington.
  • improve health and social care professions knowledge of MS management within NHS Islington.

How do clients access the service?

Clients are usually referred to the service by health professionals in primary and secondary care or the voluntary sector. Clients can also refer themselves to the MS Nurse.

How to get there:
BUS - The 210 and 41 buses stop on St. John’s Way outside the centre.
TUBE - The nearest tube station is Archway. The centre is approximately 5-10 minuets walk from here or you can take the 41 bus from outside the station.
CAR - If you are travelling by car and have a blue badge you may park on the premises. If not, please use the pay and display meters on St Johns Way.

Disabled access:
Full wheelchair accessibility including toilets. A hearing induction loop is present in reception.

Opening hours:
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5.30pm

Out-of-hours:
The MS Nurse does not provide emergency out-of-hours cover. Please contact your GP or the on-call neurology service at your neurology hospital for advice out-of-hours. For non-urgent queries, an answer phone message can be left and your call will be returned the following day.
