What does the service do?
The Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) provides health and social care equipment and minor adaptations (grab rails, stair rails, entry-phones, key-safes) to residents of Islington on the recommendation of health and social care assessors (District Nurses, Therapists, Trusted Assessors). The service is provided by both NHS Islington and Islington Council and is funded by a joint budget.
The ICES orders equipment and delivers and fits the equipment where appropriate. All equipment is serviced and repaired through by the ICES.
Who is the service for?
The service is for children, adults and older people who have physical disabilities and/or sensory impairment and has sub-stores in several local hospitals (Whittington, UCLH, St Pancras) and Health Centres.

Service user group
The ICES reports to a Management Advisory Board (MAB), which is attended by service users, NHS Islington, Islington Council and voluntary agencies. The MAB monitors performance, use of service, budgets, new items of equipment on the market and other related issues. It also acts as an information exchange and encourages discussion on the development of the service.
