Are you under 25 years old?
Have you ever had sex? If yes, read on...
Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the UK. It is most common in men and women under the age of 25. You don’t need to have had lots of sexual partners to be at risk. The National Chlamydia Screening Programme has discovered that up to one in ten young people who have a test are infected.
Many people do not know they have the infection as there are often no symptoms. If left untreated, Chlamydia can spread to other parts of the body and can cause long term health problems, such as pain and infertility. The infection can be treated with antibiotics.
If you are under 25 and want to find out whether you have Chlamydia, you can take a confidential, free, simple and painless test. You don’t have to be examined. The test is available at lots of sites across Camden and Islington.
If you’ve had a test before, it’s a good idea to repeat the test if the last one was over a year ago or if you’ve had sex with a new partner since.

How do I do the test?
Men: Simply catch the first bit of urine you pass into a pot.
Women: There are two options for women.
1. The first, most reliable test is a self-taken vaginal swab (a bit like inserting and removing a tampon, but it’s the size of a cotton-bud).
2. The second test, which is almost as good, is a urine sample, again the first bit passed.
For men and women giving a urine sample, it is important that you don’t pass urine for at least one hour before providing the sample.
How do I get my result?
You will need to fill in a form giving details of how you want your result, by letter, phone or text. We will let you know the result in the way you have requested within two weeks.
