Who is the service for?
The child protection service provides a specialist training and support service to all directly employed Primary Care Trust staff and independent contractors in the borough of Islington.
What does the service do?
The aim of the service is to ensure that all health professionals are aware of their responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
The service delivers multi-agency and multi-disciplinary training; advice, support, consultation and supervision to individuals and groups of staff; examination by a doctor for children and young people suspected of being abused and neglected; It also promotes and contributes to effective working with other agencies.
How are children referred to the service?
Children and young people are referred to the service by health professionals, Islington Children’s Social Care and the police. Members of the public with concerns about children can also contact the service and will be offered advice.
