Speech and Language Therapy services for adults are provided from:

  • Community Rehabilitation Team
    The Islington Community Rehabilitation Team (CRT) is a community based multi-disciplinary team offering a service to adults with significant physical and cognitive disabilities. They work closely with Islington Council's social services and housing departments, health services and voluntary agencies to provide seamless health and social care to our clients.

  • Learning Disabilities Partnership
    The Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership provides support, advice and services for adults with learning disabilities through a multidisciplinary team. Their staff are employed by Islington Council, NHS Isllingt and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust.

  • REACH Intermediate Care Team
    The Islington REACH Intermediate Care Team is an multidisciplinary team which is made up of staff from both  NHS Islington and Islington Council. The team works in collaboration with older people and their relatives/carers, to promote health and maximise independence in mobility, communication, work, leisure and everyday activities. This work is carried out in their own homes, day centres, residential and nursing homes, or any other appropriate environment.

  • Speech and Language Therapy at the Whittington Hospital
    The speech and language therapy departments offer a wide range of services to varied patient groups, both on an in-patient and out-patient basis. This includes speech and language difficulties , voice/laryngectomy, feeding/eating and swallowing difficulties in adult patients. Premature neonates and babies with feeding/eating and swallowing difficulties are seen at UCLH and the Whittington Hospital. GP Referral to the ENT Consultant is required for voice patients.

  • Speech and Language Therapy in Mental Health Services
    This specialist speech and language therapy team offers direct help and support to adults with mental health problems who are experiencing communication and/or eating and swallowing difficulties. The speech and language therapists work in the community and at Highgate Mental Health Service.
